Run by a
fitness professional
Basic Training HQ Gym is operated by
Howard Beck. He a "hands on" presence at the
Gym, there to see that all of your fitness
needs are met.
Howard's story
The Challenge
In January 2004, Beck was injured and told that he would never walk
again.
The Turning
Point
Against all odds, Beck began to train his
legs
with weights and exercises using rope. Eventually,
he was able to walk very slowly and gradually
moved on to riding his bike. His brother-in-law,
a personal trainer at the YMCA at the time,
helped Beck get back into shape and prepared
him for a bodybuilding competition beginning
in August of 2004. He helped Beck not only
overcome his injury and build muscle, but
get “back on track” and lose weight. Since
that month, Beck has made fitness a priority
and “a way of life.” After he resumed a healthy
physical condition, Beck competed in a NPC
show in Chandler.
Is Personal
Training Tax Deductible?
We are always striving
to make our services as affordable as possible.
To that end, we would like to bring the following
information to your attention. It may be possible
for you to deduct part of the costs of your
personal training as a qualified medical expense
under the IRS tax code. We have taken the
liberty of paraphrasing the relevant information
from the IRS website.
We must remind you
that we are your personal trainers and not
your lawyers, accountants, nor tax attorneys.
Please consult with your trusted financial
advisor to confirm that your personal training
sessions are tax deductible.
If you do qualify for
an IRS medical expense deduction, we recommend
that you talk to your doctor or medical practitioner
about writing you a prescription for fitness.
By doing so, you can show that your participation
at God's Youth Ministry Corp. is a medical
expense. You pay to lose weight to treat a
specific disease diagnosed by your physician
(such as obesity, hypertension, or heart disease).
This expense can include fees you pay for
membership in a weight reduction group as
well as fees for attendance at periodic meetings.
You cannot include membership dues in a gym,
health club, or spa as medical expenses, but
you can include separate fees charged for
weight loss activities.
We are anxious to support
your efforts to qualify for this deduction
since we believe it will keep your training
costs down. We would also be happy to speak
with your doctor or accountant if they should
have further questions.
